The darkroom is not nostalgia

On being asked, again, why I do not just shoot digital and convert.

Digital black and white is a subtraction: you take a colour picture and remove the colour. Film black and white is the picture. The camera never saw the colour, so nothing is missing from the print.

That is not a romantic argument. It is a technical one, and it shows in the tones.

Nothing is missing from the print.
